"More than 20 warships of the Black Sea Fleet have returned to their bases after taking part in the joint-force exercise of [forces of] the Southern Military District and the Airborne Forces, which wrapped up at the Opuk range in Crimea yesterday," the Defense Ministry said.
Recently, the escalation was observed in Donbas, as well as the build-up of the Russian forces near the border with Ukraine.
On April 22, it was reported that Russia is withdrawing troops from the borders of Ukraine to places of permanent basing. Shoigu has ordered the General Staff that commands troops of the military districts and airborne forces to plan and hold the return of troops to places of permanent basing from April 23.
According to Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, the troops’ withdrawal will not stop the conflict in general.
“The statement of Shoigu is the positive event. If Russia really withdraws forces from the border with Ukraine that it relocated there, it will relieve tensions. However, we should remember that this step does not stop the escalation and the conflict in general,” Kuleba stated.
