The implementation of visa regime with Russia will not provide the expected result, for this reason, it was decided to make the decision about the biometric control for foreigners. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin claimed this at the question hour to the government at the Verkhovna Rada. 112 Ukraine broadcasted it.
‘The decision that is the response and the plan for the future aims to create the integrated system that provides the access to the biometric data of the foreigners and stateless persons, effective control of the movement at ithe Ukrainian territory and that is approved by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. This system will be implemented gradually, stage by stage, while the usual implementation of visa regime will not provide the needed effect’, Klimkin said.
He noted that the implementation of visa regime with Russia will lead to the adverse effect: ‘Conversely, it will create the significant problems in the context that Russia will use these problems for provocations and the deliberate policy of the restriction against the citizens of Ukraine, who live in the occupied territories to hinder them from moving to Ukraine’.
Klimkin noted that the decision to implement the biometric control for foreigners was made in the result of the detailed analysis and it is supported by the friends and partners of Ukraine.
The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine approved the implementation of the biometric control for foreigners since January 1, 2018, on July 10.
