The President of Moldova Igor Dodon claimed that the implementation of the biometric control for foreigners by Ukraine will create the additional problems for Moldovan citizens to travel to Ukraine as RIA News reported.
At the same time, he noted that he did not receive the information about the implementation of such control.
‘I think that this (the implementation of the biometric control) will create the additional problems for Moldovan citizens to travel to Ukraine who anyway travel there reluctantly due to the unstable situation in the neighbor country’, Dodon claimed.
On July 10, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine made the decision about the implementation of the biometric control for the foreigners who are going to enter Ukraine and the implementation of e-system of the preliminary register of persons who intend to enter Ukraine since January 1, 2018. The Secretary of the NSDC Oleksandr Turchynov noted that it is necessary to strengthen the state security. According to him, the proper technic infrastructure is created at all checkpoints at the border with Russia for the implementation of the biometric control.
The number of foreign tourists to Ukraine in 2016 increased by 5.6 % in comparison with 2015 last year 13.6 million of people visited Ukraine. Moldova occupies the first place in the tourism. 4.5 million of Moldovans visited Ukraine in 2016.
