Verkhovna Rada was offered to legislatively ban expressing any kinds of sexual orientation in public. Oleh Barna, the MP from Petro Poroshenko Bloc, registered the relevant bill.

Yet, according to the explanatory note, which he published on his Facebook page, recently the society is “becoming demoralized”. Therefore, marches, parades and festivals aimed at “the propaganda of any kind of the sexual orientation” should be prohibited.

If the bill is adopted, mass media will not have a right to publish information about the individual’s sexual orientation.

However, the document provides the possibility of conducting the events banned by this document “in private closed clubs” under the condition that this information will not surface.

The bill provides the introduction of new fines for the propaganda of any kind of sexual orientation – from $190 to $1900 and community service (12-60 hours). For the repeat violation or with the mass media involved - $380 - $4000 of community service (40-60 hours).
