The topic of Ukraine will become one of the central ones in possible negotiations between US President Joe Biden and Russian leader Vladimir Putin. This was announced by the representative of the White House Jen Psaki during a briefing.

“We are discussing this possibility and will announce it when everything is finally decided. This will be an opportunity to discuss our serious concerns about the belligerent rhetoric and the military build-up on the border with Ukraine, "she said.

She also noted that the United States administration is consulting with the US Congress and allies in Europe on the possible imposition of sanctions against Russia in connection with the growing tensions on the borders of Ukraine.

"Economic sanctions are one option, but we intend to consult with Congress and European partners," she said.

Earlier it was reported that US President Joe Biden and Russian leader Vladimir Putin will hold direct talks in the near future.

According to US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, the United States is ready to work with Russia and Ukraine to support the settlement of the diplomatic process.

According to media reports, the talks between the presidents of the two countries may take place on December 7.
