Former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden does not mind testifying in the Senate as part of an investigation into the impeachment of U.S. President Donald Trump, Voice of America reports.
During a meeting with his supporters, Biden told his audience that he would obey “any subpoena that was sent” to him.
"I want to clarify something I said yesterday. In my 40 years in public life, I have always complied with a lawful order and in my eight years as VP, my office — unlike Donald Trump and Mike Pence — cooperated with legitimate congressional oversight requests," former U.S. Vice President wrote on his Twitter page.
However, he added that he would not “pretend” that there is any legal basis for Republican subpoenas for his testimony in the impeachment trial.
Biden also emphasized that the impeachment process “is about Trump’s conduct, not his”.
As we reported earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump criticized House's of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi for holding off on sending the articles of impeachment against him to the Senate, Reuters informed.
“It’s so unfair, they are violating the Constitution,” Trump said, calling Pelosi “crazy Nancy”.
Pelosi, on the other hand, is willing to secure the fair process in the Senate trial.
