The U.S. Presidential Inaugural Committee asks the citizens to stay at home during the ceremony of Joe Biden's inauguration, in the interest of pulic safety. The Voice of America reported that, citing the authority, which urges people to show solidarity in conditions of the worldwide coronavirus pandemic.
“The pandemic is continuing to have a significant public health impact across the nation. Americans everywhere must do their part to slow the spread of the virus: wear masks, stay home and limit gatherings. We are asking Americans to participate in inaugural events from home to protect themselves, their families, friends and communities,” the medium quoted Dr. David Kessler, the Committee's chief medical advisor.
On January 20, Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will make their oaths at the U.S. Capitol, observing the strict protocols for healthcare and security; Biden's inauguration speech will follow. "The ceremony’s footprint will be extremely limited, and the parade that follows will be reimagined", the Committee says.
