Biden, Harris not to attend Crimean Platform's first summit in Ukraine

US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are not going to attend the first summit of Crimean Platform, which is slated for August 23. George Kent, the Deputy Assistant Secretary said so as quoted in the interview with Radio Liberty.

"We will send a member of the Cabinet - that is, not the president, not the vice president but a member of the Cabinet. And we know it's very important", Kent replied to the question about the U.S. presence on the summit.

Kent added that the joint actions aimed at reunion of Crimea with Ukraine is not just the matter of what taskes place on August 23, but also the matter of constant long-lasting process.

The first summit of Crimean Platform is scheduled for August 23, 2021. The initiative was created as an International coordination mechanism, to bring Crimea back on the agenda, to protect human rights on the peninsula and to facilitate de-occupation of Crimea
