The administration of U.S. President Joe Biden is looking for a new candidate for the post of U.S. ambassador to Ukraine. This was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba on the air of Ukraine 24 TV channel, Ukrayinska Pravda reported.
"There was General Dayton, the procedure is almost over, but for now we assume that this issue is put on hold, and the new Biden administration will look for a new candidate for this position," Kuleba noted.
He was unable to provide names of the people that are actually considered by the White House, as the Biden administration has not made a choice yet.
It is worth noting that Keith Dayton's candidacy was approved by the relevant Senate committee last September.
As we reported earlier, the Biden administration state that fighting coronavirus infection would become the first priority for them.
“We can and will beat COVID-19. America deserves a response to the COVID-19 pandemic that is driven by science, data, and public health — not politics,” the statement said.
