Biden calls for sanctions against Lukashenko's associates

Democratic U.S. presidential candidate Joe Biden said that he would increase pressure on allies of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. This was reported by Reuters.

"The international community should significantly expand its sanctions on Lukashenko’s henchmen and freeze the offshore accounts where they keep their stolen wealth," the former vice president stated.

Joe Biden noted that he planned to support Belarus in case he won the upcoming presidential election.

"As president, I will also work with our European partners and allies to lay out a plan of economic support for a truly sovereign, democratic Belarus," he added.

As we reported earlier, the U.S. presidential elections will be held this year on November 3. 

The first round of public debate between Donald Trump and Democratic candidate Joe Biden took place on September 29. 

On the evening of October 22, the second round of debates between the candidates took place. Topics for discussion were the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, American families, climate change, national security, leadership.
