The US presidential administration has already selected a candidate for the post of ambassador to Ukraine and is now completing the necessary procedures before his appointment. It was stated by former ambassador William Taylor, as Ukrinform reports.
"The United States has a representative office in Ukraine, but without an ambassador. However, I have reliable information that the ambassador has already been elected and now this person is going through the necessary process, after which he will arrive in Kyiv as soon as he receives the consent of the Senate," he said.
According to Taylor, in the six months since the inauguration of President Biden, the White House administration is still being formed and has a number of vacancies.
Meanwhile, the administration of US President Joe Biden will announce the candidacy of its Ambassador to Ukraine in the coming weeks. This was stated by George Kent, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs.
"We are now in the process of selecting an ambassador, this is a priority of the Biden administration - the first wave of ambassadorial appointments will include Ukraine... Therefore, I am confident that the White House will announce a qualified candidate in the coming weeks," he said.
