Bellingcat, The Insider identify Russian officer involved in transfer of Buk to Ukraine

Bellingcat group and The Insider journalists have established the identity of the Russian soldier involved in the transfer of 'Buk' missile system that shot down the MH17 plane in 2014 to Ukraine as Conflict Intelligence Team (CIT) reported on Twitter.

'Bellingcat team, The Insider and other investigators found out that 'Andrey Ivanovich' or 'Orion' who participated in the transfer of 'Buk' that shot down MH17 to Ukraine is GRU officer Oleh V. Ivannikov. Earlier he was Defense Minister of South Ossetia', the message said.

As we reported the Insider and Bellingcat conducted a joint investigation on establishing the key figure sought for the downing the Malaysian Boeing MH17, 'Delfin' in December 2017.

Although Delfin’s exact role in the downing is unclear, the Dutch-led Joint Investigation Team (JIT) is specifically looking for him, which testifies him being a key figure in the tragedy. The Insider and Bellingcat established that it must have been Colonel General Nikolai Fedorovich Tkachev, currently serving as the Chief Inspector of the Central Military District of the Russian Federation.

Also, the Netherlands and Australia officially accused Russia of the downing of the MH17 plane.
