Belarusian citizens abroad, who support the opposition and the protest movement in their homeland, have announced the creation of "people's embassies" around the world. This was reported on Belarusabroad.org.
"We, Belarusians abroad ... declare that the Advisory Council of Belarusians Abroad, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Embassies of the Republic of Belarus have no democratic legitimacy to represent the interests of Belarus and Belarusian citizens living abroad. We announce the establishment of embassies to protect the rights and interests of Belarusians abroad, as well as to represent the interests of democratic Belarus," the statement said.
According to the information on the website, "people's embassies and consulates" have already been established in countries such as: Brazil; United Kingdom; Germany; Ireland; Lithuania; Spain; Slovenia; Finland; France; Ukraine; Sweden; South Korea.
As we reported earlier, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed a law on mutual recognition of visas between his country and Russia.
