Svetlana Tsikhanouskaya, one of the leaders of the Belarusian opposition, intends to visit Ukraine in the near future. She stated this during an interview with Radio Svoboda.
"Unfortunately, the date of the visit to Ukraine has not been approved yet, but I hope that it will take place in the near future. I cannot say more specifically, the date is being discussed," she said.
She noted that she was discussing the details of the visit with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
Tsikhanouskaya emphasized it would be a friendly meeting with no political conditions.
As we reported earlier, according to Vladimir Makei, the Foreign Minister of Belarus, the country intends to introduce sanctions against Ukraine's officials for their support of EU sanctions against the regime of Alexander Lukashenko.
"We will see how things go next. We will not leave any of Ukraine's actions without the response, as long as they are aimed against the Belarusian government," the official stated.
He also added that "Ukraine's solidarity with sanctions of the Western governments against Belarus is another dependent decision of the neighboring country that shows the inconsistency of its policy."
