Belarus plans to introduce sanctions against Ukraine's officials for their support of EU sanctions against the regime of Alexander Lukashenko. Vladimir Makei, the Foreign Minister of Belarus said so during the briefing.
"We'll see how things go next. We will not leave any of Ukraine's actions without the response, as long as it's aimed against the Belarusian government", Makei said.
He claimed that "Ukraine's solidarity with sanctions of the Western governments against Belarus is another dependent decision of the neighboring country that shows the inconsistency of its policy".
Earlier, Lukashenko claimed that in the dialogue with partners, Belarus clings to the principles of openness, decency, and equality of rights. "Any sort of pressure on us, all the more introduction of some sanctions... I claim this frankly and openly: similar responses will follow, and they will be even more painful for the European community. This is why we should not be taking this path", the Belarusian leader said.
