Belarus is strengthening its borders with Ukraine to prevent the illegal import of weapons into its territory. Interfax reports this with reference to Stanislav Zas, the State Secretary of Belarus Security Council.

“We do not close checkpoints with Ukraine, on the contrary, we improve and develop them. We are glad to see all guests, who come with good intentions. But at the same time, we put up a tough barrier for those who come with some unlawful goals. For this we strengthen the border behind the checkpoints," Zas said.

The State Secretary of Belarus Security Council also adds that Minsk takes into account all the risks that come from the territory of Ukraine.

“How many thousands of weapons are in the public domain? After all, this weapon existing somewhere. Secondly, we also have people who would like to use these weapons and get them. We must firmly suppress such aspirations. We don’t get weapons in our country, "he added.

Earlier it was reported that the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that Minsk was forced to close the border with Ukraine because of the "rushing flow of weapons."

“We were forced by our brothers, close people (with Ukraine) to completely close the border. Uptight. Tighter than by the North Atlantic block, which has always been, for a long time, enemy number one…,” Lukashenko stated.

Also at the end of August, the head of the Republic of Belarus announced that the states now have "good relations." In addition, according to Lukashenko, Ukrainian President Zelensky asked Belarus for "some kind of support."
