Belarus refuses to supply electricity to Ukraine, - document

Belarus claims that it's not going to supply electricity to Ukraine based on the previously signed framework contracts. Olga Kosharna, the Ukrainian expert in energy issues and the member of State Inspection for Nuclear Regulation of Ukraine posted the document on Facebook.

"Dear partners! State Enterprise Belenergo informs you that the supply of electric power to the united energy system of Ukraine, based on the previously signed contacts is not going to take place. Making the new franework deals is not planned, either. We thank you for cooperation and interest in the purchase of Belarusian electric power", reads the document signed by Belenergo's General Director Pavel Drozdov.

On November 2, the Ministry of Energy of Belarus announced that, within the framework of emergency assistance, supplies of electricity to Ukraine had begun. Deliveries were carried out at the request of the Ukrainian side.

The transmission system operator Ukrenergo named the reason for the activation of emergency assistance to Belarus in the power supply is the lack of capacity in the United Energy System of Ukraine in connection with the increased accident rate at the power units of thermal stations.
