Belarus is ready to halt the transit of energy carriers if Poland closes the border. Aleksandr Lukashenko said so in an interview with Russian propagandist Dmitriy Kiselev.
"Poles decided to close the border with Belarus. Alright, close it, then. And if I do the same, what happens to the stream that comes mostly to Russia and China across our territory? You'd better consider how you buy energy carriers from Russia", Lukashenko said as quoted by Belta.
He added that his country's interests now lie with Russia, China, and the Far East. Besides, he said that the EU risks losing not only fuel but also the opportunity to export their goods to Russia. These goods will not reach Russia across Ukraine, only across Belarus, Lukashenko said.
Earlier, Polish Premier Mateusz Morawiecky claimed that his government was ready to boost the sanctions against Belarus, specifically to close the border checkpoints and halt the shipment of goods across the neighboring country. At a press conference in Tallinn, he also stated that the illegal migrants from the Close East are used as a human shield while the power crisis is being boosted artificially.
