Belarus comes first in Europe in terms of the number of prisoners per capita. Istanbul Academy of Criminal Law reported that as quoted by Polskie Radio.

The data shows that there are 345 prisoners per 100,000 residents of this country. Turkey and Russia are in the top three with the largest number of inmates. In Poland, for example, the number is almost twice smaller than in Belarus.

The smallest number of prisoners is observed in Iceland, Norway, San-Marino and Monaco.
