Belarus might be mediator in talks on Donbas conflict settlement, - Medvedchuk

Belarus could play a positive role in the peaceful settlement in Donbas conflict. Viktor Medvedchuk, the head of the political board of Opposition Platform - For Life party said this on air of 112 Ukraine TV channel.'

'I gather Belarus, as the neighboring Slavic country could have played a positive role in the peaceful settlement in Donbas. Moreover, Aleksandr Lukashenko who I met with in Minsk, and whom I recently met in Sochi, has once more reiterated his position about his readiness to act as the mediator in the situation between Russia and Ukraine', he said.

Medvedchuk also pointed out that Ukrainians treat Lukashenko 'extremely positive'. 'If there's an official address from the government, he will join it for sure', the politician said. 

Previously, Medvedchuk said Lukashenko stressed that the situation in Ukraine affects Belarus and thus it remains within the frameworks of his personal interests.
