Belarus' Healthcare Ministry has announced the beginning of the population's vaccination against coronavirus with the Russian vaccine - Sputnik V. This was reported by the ministry’s press service on Telegram.

"The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Health of Russia, and the Russian Fund for Direct Investments (RFDI) announce the beginning of vaccination of the population of Belarus with the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine,” the statement said.

The first batch of vaccine has already been delivered to the country. Thus, Belarus has become the first country to start widespread vaccination of the population with the Russia-produced vaccine.

As we reported earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin has decided to get vaccinated against coronavirus infection.

"We have the right to expect that in the foreseeable future the president himself will tell about the decision. He, in fact, said that he will do it himself. He said that he would be vaccinated, that he made such a decision and he was waiting for the completion of all formalities," reads the message.
