Belarusian Ministry of Defense states positive reviews of observers

Belarusian Ministry of Defense did not agree with the evaluation of the Russian-Belarusian military exercises West-2017 by the Defense Ministry of Ukraine. This was reported on website of Belarus Defense Department.

"The Department of International Military Cooperation of Belarusian Defense Ministry disagrees with the statement of the Ukrainian side and explains that on September 16 - 20, representatives of seven states took part in the observation of the joint strategic training West-2017 of the Armed Forces of Belarus and the Russian Federation,” the department stated.

Also, Belarus Defense Ministry added that, according to observers' general opinion, the idea and scale of the exercises corresponded to the one declared.

As it was reported earlier the joint drills of Russia and Belarus West-2017 took place on September 14-20. The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Olexandr Turchynov claimed that the joint drills can be the preparation for the offensive operation. The President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko assured Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko that West-2017 will not become the preparation for invasion to Ukraine.
