Belarus 24 TV channel banned from broadcasting in Ukraine

Belarus 24 TV channel has been excluded from the list of foreign media allowed for broadcasting in Ukraine. Press office of the National Council for TV and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine reported that on June 10. 

"According to the monitoring of foreign TV channels that broadcast in Ukraine, members of the National Council made the decision to exclude Belarus 24 TV channel fron the list of foreign programs, the content of which meets the demands of the European Convention for Transborder TV and the Ukrainian laws", reads the message.

The authority explained that Belarus 24 broadcasted audiovisual content that is prohibited in Ukraine; it also broadcasted the films with actors who are considered a threat to Ukraine's national security.

Since Belarus did not sign the European Convention for Transborder TV, and the broadcasting of Belarus 24 in Ukraine was performed under the respective decision of the Council, this agency has the authority to take action so as to prevent these violations. This is why the decision to ban the medium from broadcasting was made.
