From 2022, Ukraine will ban the sale of plastic bags in all points of trade and services. President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the relevant law during the Ukraine 30 forum.

"I also want to note the bill that was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada - a law banning the use of plastic bags," Zelensky said.

So, the president cited statistics as an example. According to him, every Ukrainian uses 500 plastic bags a year. On average, we use plastic bags for about 20 minutes.

"More than a hundred years - this is how long this plastic bag has been decomposing. And it takes a few seconds to sign the corresponding bill," the president said, after which he signed the law.

As we reported earlier, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in the second reading and in general the bill #2051-1 on the restriction of the use of plastic bags in the territory of Ukraine. 297 MPs supported the decision.
