Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon considers the decision to place modern THAAD missile defense systems in South Korea the right one. This was informed by "Interfax-Ukraine", referring to the South Korean editions.
"The reason why we decided to put our THAAD in North Korea is persistent attempts to develop nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles. This is why, in my opinion, the plans to deploy missile defense systems are purely defensive in nature,” Ban Ki-moon claimed.
According to him, if it was not for the threats posed by North Korea, the systems would not be needed.
"We would not need THAAD if it was not for a threat from Pyongyang," he added.
It should be noted that statements about the development and launch of new missiles sound from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), as well as about the development of new nuclear weapons.
