UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon hopes that US President-elect Donald Trump after assuming his duties, will change his rhetoric and begin to interact with the world to confront global crises. On this Ban Ki-moon said in an interview with AFP.

In particular, the United Nations Secretary General hopes that Trump would abandon his harsh statements - concerning the criticism of the Paris agreements on climate, and appeals for closer ties with Russia.

"This is what he said during the election campaign. Now, after the election, when he forms his transition team with experienced professionals, I am confident that the United States intends to continue to play a leading role. He made many anxiety statements, but I am sure he will understand their importance and seriousness ", - said Ban Ki-moon.

Let us remind, Ban Ki-moon held a telephone conversation with US President-elect Donald Trump. He welcomed Trump calls for unity (in the US) after a difficult election and expressed confidence that the United States and the United Nations will maintain its traditionally strong ties and cooperate in the promotion of peace and security, sustainable development and human rights around the world.
