Azerbaijani Defense Ministry claimed that more shooting occurred on the border with Armenia. The statement is released on the website of the authority.

"On August 17, units of Armenia's Armed Forces shelled the positions of Azerbaijani army in the direction of Istisu (Kelbajar district) and Galakenda (Kedabek district) from their positions in Basakerchar and Shishkaya (Basarkechar district)", reads the message.

In turn, Armenian Defense Ministry stated that the Azerbaijani army units opened fire from small arms on Armenian positions in Sotki district. That resulted in a gunshot wound for one of Armenian servicemen.

In June, Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported that the Armenian Armed Forces fired on the positions of the Azerbaijani Army in the Kelbajar region. In turn, the Ministry of Defense of Armenia denied the message of Baku about the shelling of the positions of the Azerbaijani army, announcing the attack on its positions instead.

Prior to that, Azerbaijan handed over 15 prisoners of war to Armenia in exchange for maps of minefields on a part of the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh.

In May, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan asked Russian leader Vladimir Putin to bring his peacekeepers in Armenia in the view of a military threat coming from Azerbaijan. on August 6, the peacekeepers arrived on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
