The authorities and responsibilities of the Ukrainian Army's General Staff and Commander-in-Chief will be divided by the end of the year. Ihor Kolesnyk, First Deputy Chief of the General Staff said this as quoted by ArmiaInform.
"Offices of the General Staff and Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine's Armed Forces will be divided, as the General Staff, headquarters of service branches and operative-level staffs will switch to the J-structure (the organization structure used by the NATO command, - 112 International). This will let us improve the management system, because responsibilities will be clearly defined; some will take care of the training, some will take care of the actual use of the Armed Forces", Kolesnyk explained.
The officer explained that due to the division of authority, Commander-in-Chief will be the one to give the orders, while the General Staff will be responsible for support and due implementation of these orders.
In his turn, Commander-in-Chief will subordinate to Defense Minister.
