Restrictions are imposed on staying outside the home from 20.00 to 06.00. Leaving the house at this time is allowed only in exceptional cases.

Cultural and entertainment venues should be closed. Public events are prohibited, except for funerals.

The hotel business and catering establishments are being closed, cafes, restaurants and bars will work only for delivery. Sports are only allowed outdoors without physical contact. Retail stores, schools, and service providers (such as hairdressing salons) will remain open under certain conditions.

New quarantine measures are being introduced in Austria to avoid overloading the healthcare system and a shortage of beds in hospitals for the medical care of COVID-19 patients.

"This step needs to be taken to avoid overloading resuscitation," said Kurz.

Note that, according to the Worldometers website, Austria is in 49th place in terms of the number of cases of Covid-19. Since the beginning of quarantine, 104 925 people have been infected, of which more than a thousand cases are fatal.
