The Austrian government considers the option to send the peacekeepers to Donbas if the UN deploys its peacekeeping mission there. Sebastian Kurz, the Austrian Chancellor, said this during the joint press conference with Ukrainian leader Petro Poroshenko.

'The government will support this idea. I understand a lot needs to be done for that to happen. If the Ukrainian side asks Austria to join or render any assistance, we'll be ready to discuss it with the Defense Ministry,' the Chancellor said.

The Ukrainian leader visited Austria for negotiations with the country's leaders. Petro Poroshenko and chairman of the Austrian Parliament Wolfgang Sobotka discussed a wide range of political issues, including the situation in Donbas and the importance of anti-Russian sanctions.

‘The president also thanked Austrian leaders for humanitarian assistance, which is supposed to help cope with the consequences of the Russian aggression in Donbas,’ Poroshenko’s press service said.
