Ukraine and 27 other members of the international coalition for freedom of the media issued a joint statement in which they strongly condemned the forced landing of Ryanair's plane in Minsk last Sunday and demanded that the Belarusian government immediately release opposition journalist Roman Protasevich. The corresponding message is posted on the website of the US Department of State.

“The undersigned members of the Media Freedom Coalition condemn in the strongest terms Belarus’ forced diversion and landing of a commercial aircraft and subsequent arrest of journalist Roman Protasevich,” the statement says.

It is noted that the coalition for freedom of the media demands the immediate and unconditional release of Protasevich, as well as other journalists and media workers who were detained in Belarus for their activities.
