Archbishop Klyment, the Head of Crimean eparchy of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine announced the timeless hunger strike. He approached the building of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, demanding that the Ukrainian government protect religious freedom in Crimea. Krym.Realii reported that on December 10.

"I came to Kyiv, I've got nothing to lose now. I officially state that I begin a timeless starving - until the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine solves the issue of protection of religious freedoms in Crimea and provides security of the clergy of Crimean eparchy of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine".

According to the cleric, he will stop starving if he meets with Prime Minister of Ukraine and finds out when the mentioned security issues would be solved. "If they do within a week, OK then. If they don't, I either leave Kyiv in a casket or with the government decree", he said.

The Cabinet has not commented on the situation yet.

Last week, Klyment reported to the Russian police, saying that church property was stolen from Simferopol Cathedral. The archbishop asked President Zelensky, Ukrainian government and law enforcement agencies to take steps to stop the pressure on the Orthodox Church of Ukraine in the occupied Crimea.
