The approval of lists for the next mutual release of detainees should begin in January 2020, and the exchange itself may take place this winter, subject to the relevant conditions. This was reported by press secretary of President of Ukraine Yulia Mendel to Interfax-Ukraine correspondent.
“During a telephone conversation on December 31, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin agreed that the approval of lists for future mutual release should begin immediately, therefore, already in January 2020. Before the approval of the lists, it is impossible to say the names and how many people will be agreed to swap. However, we hope that, subject to fast work and technical capabilities, future mutual liberation will take place in the winter of 2020," she said.

Today, December 31, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

It is reported that the leaders of the states congratulated each other on the upcoming holidays and the mutual exchange of held persons, which took place on December 29. The parties also congratulated the conclusion of the gas contract.

"During the conversation, the leaders of states also agreed to immediately proceed to agree on lists for the release of Ukrainians, among others Crimeans who are in Crimea and in Russia, and Russians held in Ukraine," - the President’s Office said.

It is noted that the parties expressed the hope that a complete ceasefire along the demarcation line in the Donbas will begin in the near future.
