Party of Regions is a centrist Russophile political party of Ukraine created in late 1997. In 2000s, it grew to be the biggest party in the country. But since the February 2014 Ukrainian revolution the party has not competed in elections; most of its representatives have left the party to continue their careers in other parties – predominantly in the Opposition Bloc. Best known former party members are ex-Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and former President Viktor Yanukovych. Both fled to Russia in February 2014, after the Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine.
