August 30, another protest action is planned in the capital of Belarus. In the center of Minsk, the police and riot police are already on duty. Also, beads, paddy wagons, and water cannons were pulled onto the central streets. This is reported by the TUT.by news agency.
It is noted that Independence Square, where the protest action will take place today, is fenced in with a metal fence. Not far from the square there are paddy wagons and water cannons.
The passage to the square is blocked, and fences with barbed wire are installed around the stele. Also, turnstiles fenced Victory Square and Oktyabrskaya.
It is reported that the protest is to begin at 2 pm local time.
As reported before, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg urges the Russian authorities to withhold from intervening into Belarus’ internal affairs as the country is now facing a third week of the protests against the results of the recent presidential election. He also called upon Alexander Lukashenko to provide the Belarussian people with a right to decide on the future of their country. The official assured that there was no concentration of NATO troops in the region, but the Belarusian regime should not use this as an excuse to suppress peaceful protests.
