The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has terminated the agreement on the creation of the Advisory Economic Work Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), as 112.ua reported.
Thus, the Cabinet has terminated the agreement for Ukraine, which initiated the creation of the Work Committee of Council of Heads of States and Council of Governments of States in 1992.
The explanatory note states that the current agreement lost its practical meaning due to the creation of the CIS Coordinating and Consultative Committee, which stopped activity in December 2000.
The proper decision will allow organizing the agreement and legal base within CIS in accordance with the modern reality.
As it was reported earlier, on April 12, 2018, Petro Poroshenko stated that he indented to present a bill on termination of certain articles of the agreement on friendship with Russia.
The President also called the Cabinet of Ministers for suspending the participation in the Commonwealth's statutory bodies and supported the withdrawal of Ukraine’s representation in the relevant institutions in Minsk. Later, Iryna Lutsenko, the MP from Petro Poroshenko Bloc, the President’s representative in the Parliament, stated that Ukraine would not denounce a series of agreements within CIS, including those on diplomas’ recognition, recruitment, and transit.
Later Poroshenko also claimed that Ukraine will reconsider all international agreements with the CIS.
In June 2018, Ukraine withdrew two diplomats from the composition of the statutory bodies of the CIS according to the order of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
Besides, Ukraine's service for foreign intelligence began the official procedure of withdrawal from the CIS Agreement on Cooperation of Intelligence and Security Services in December 2018.
