Ukraine to receive 1.2 million doses of coronavirus vaccines by the end of this month. This was stated by the country's chief sanitary doctor Viktor Lyashko during a meeting with journalists on May 15, reports RBC-Ukraine.
"The owner of the Serum Institute of India plant recently came to Ukraine and met with the minister and the president. According to the minister, he promised that in May there will be 500,000 doses of CoviShield," Lyashko said.
The doctor also said that 700,000 doses of the CoviShield vaccine are planned to be delivered in May as part of the global COVAX initiative. According to preliminary data, the drug will arrive in the country on May 24-25.
As Lyashko noted, these vaccines will be used both for the second vaccination and for the first vaccination.
For people who were vaccinated with CoviShield from February 24 to March 10, he said, a second dose of the vaccine from the latest shipment of South Korean AstraZeneca from COVAX has already been reserved. They will start receiving the second dose of this vaccine on May 19.
Over the past day, May 14, 23 638 people were vaccinated from Covid-19 in Ukraine.
Thus, 936 499 people have been vaccinated since the beginning of the vaccination campaign, of which 936 497 people received 1 dose, 13 661 people received 2 doses (of which 2 people received 1 dose abroad).
