Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko claimed that the investigation established all the contractors and organizers of the murder of public activist and Adviser of Kherson’s Mayor Kateryna Handziuk. The Prosecutor General claimed this on the air of one of the Ukrainian TV channels, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
‘The assistant of one of the People’s Deputy is served with charge papers in this process, and I think that in the nearest future, we will announce a number of suspicions that would finally show the circle of persons involved in the order, organization, and execution of this crime,’ he said.
The Prosecutor General added there are several dozen versions of this crime but the investigation concurs on one real version.
‘The motive of the crime is Handziuk's activity against one of the major corruption schemes of the local authorities. And we established all those people who contracted, who organized this murder,’ Lutsenko said.
Earlier, the local activists reported that Vladyslav Manger, Chairman of Kherson regional council, was trying to escape from the country.
On November 23, Telegram channel the Newsroom posted the message said that Manger, a suspect in the murder of activist Handziuk, moved to France.
November 4, it became known that Kateryna Handziuk died aged 34. She was doused with sulphuric acid in July this year. According to preliminary information, the death was caused by thrombus detachment.
Besides, the official reason for the death of Handziuk was specified. It was multiple organ failure and chemical burns.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko expressed his condolences in accordance with the death of the adviser. He required the law enforcement bodies to do everything possible to find the murderers and punish them.
On November 12, the court arrested suspect in Handziuk case Igor Pavlovsky, as Ukraine’s Security Service Head Vasyl Hrytsak said.
