Edi Rama, the Albanian Prime Minister supported merging of his country with Kosovo.
"He made the comments during an intergovernmental meeting between Albania and Kosovo in the city of Elbasan. Asked by the media about possible unification, Rama said he would vote in favour and expects a referendum to take place in the future. He added that he did not know when it would happen or how", reads the story at Euractiv.
In turn, Premier of Kosovo Alber Kurti claimed that the referendum is a part of long-lasting process that is out of his government's control.
Head of the Serbian government Anna Brnabic claimed that it's "another stone in undermining the foundations of regional stability and security".
Euronews Albania conducted a survey, according to which 80 percent of Albanians support merging of two countries.
As is known, Kosovo announced independence from Serbia in the unilateral order in February 2008. In 2013, two countries took commitments to start the dialogue mediated by the EU so as to try and solve the worrisome matters. Since then, there has been no tangible progress in this area.
