The Minister of Internal Affairs Denys Monastyrsky stated that a state of emergency may be imposed in the regions bordering Belarus if the situation aggravates. He said this during a briefing.

"We see, and if necessary, as the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council has already said, various scenarios of action have been worked out, up to the point of imposing a state of emergency in these border areas," the minister said.

He added that the places of deployment of personnel have already been determined to strengthen the Border Guard Service, the National Guard, and the National Police.

"Interaction with other units of territorial defense, public formations for the protection of public order has been determined, and they will coordinate the protection of our state border," the minister said.

Meanwhile, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki admits that the European Union may close the border with Belarus as part of a new package of sanctions.

According to Moravetsky, Belarus may resort to storming the border with migrants, if the EU countries do not start to act together.

"In this regard, we will discuss the next sanctions, including the complete closure of the border, which means the deprivation of the regime of economic dividends," Moravetsky said.
