Shevchenkivsky District Court of Kyiv to begin consideration of the case against Ukraine’s citizen Viacheslav Pyvovarnyk accused of the organization of the failed murder of Russian journalist Arkadiy Babchenko, as the court reports.
“Shevchenkivsky District Court of Kyiv calls Viacheslav O. Pyvovarnyk for the preparatory court session on the criminal proceeding 1-kp / 761/1848/2018 № 761/24956/18…on December 20, at 8:30 am, at Dehtyrivska 31-A, room #507,” the message said.
It is specified that Pyvovarnyk is called as the defendant. Particularly, he is accused of the state treason, preparation of the terrorist actions, financing of terrorism, illegal handling of weapons, ammunition and explosive objects.
Judge Maryna Antonyuk will consider the case.
Arkadiy Babchenko is the Russian journalist, war-time correspondent, and writer. He served with the Russian regular army, surviving the combat action in both Chechen wars (the 1990s and 2000). Later, he prepared a number of reports during the armed conflict in South Ossetia in 2008. Since 2012, the Russian government has been prosecuting him for critical reports against the incumbent authority.
As it was reported earlier, Shevchenkivsky district court in Kyiv arrested Borys Herman, the suspect in the organization of the attempt on the life of Arkadiy Babchenko, the Russian opposition reporter who lives in Kyiv.
Besides, the Russian Federal Security Service paid Viacheslav Pyvovarnyk, the co-owner of Kyiv Consulting Group company, $100,000 for the “murder” of Babchenko.
