The Chairman of the State Ecological Inspectorate noted that these are the results of the examination conducted by a working group, which included representatives of law enforcement and environmental agencies of Ukraine and Hungary.
"However, the fact that our country produces only one-fifth of all waste that litters the Tisza, does not absolve us of responsibility for the establishment of a waste management system. This includes the development of infrastructure for waste processing - sorting lines, incinerators, etc., " Malyovany said.
He added that it is important to monitor the condition of rivers. He announced that one of the steps to implement such a surveillance system would be taken soon.
On May 25 the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Roman Abramovsky said that 42 unauthorized dumps have been found since the beginning of this year in the basin of the river Tisza.
