60 Ukrainians have perished due to thin ice in ponds and rivers since the beginning of the year. The State Emergencies Service reported that on Monday.

The governmental agency reminded the citizens that fragile ice formations are spotted on many waterways due to temperature fluctuations; it is extremely dangerous to step on that ice.

The rescue teams conduct prevention raids on open and closed waterways to avoid more cases of falling through thin ice. The State Emergencies Service urges people to observe safety regulations.
