50 criminal cases against border guards were spotted this year

Almost 40 workers of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, who used their authority for the criminal intents were detained within the criminal proceedings in 2018 as the service reported.

It is noted that the majority of the offenses took place directly on the border. 21 officers were exposed in the assistance in the transfer of the tobacco products and consumer goods.

It is reported that 425 crimes were spotted by the detachment of the inner security. 273 of them are of the corruption nature. 50 criminal cases were spotted this year.

As we reported Ukrainian border guards reinforced the on-duty units protecting the sections of Ukraine-Russia border in Sumy, Kharkiv and Luhansk regions.

Besides, the border guards did not allow 1,650 citizens of Russia to enter Ukraine during the action of martial law in ten regions from November 26 till December 26. 

Moreover, over 800 Russian citizens failed to enter Ukraine after the martial law ended on December 26, according to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Spokesperson of the border service Oleg Slobodyan stated that 160 Russians were refused to enter Ukraine during the New Year holidays.
