The current phase of hostilities between Armenia and Azerbaijan carries on since last weekend.
Since the 1990s, Armenia and Azerbaijan have been in hot water over Nagorno-Karabakh, the area populated by ethnic Armenians, which separated from Azerbaijan and is now de-fact independent. The Azeri do not recognize its independence. However, the latest skirmishes took place in the area of Tavush in northeastern Armenia, which borders Azerbaijan. The attacks that took place on both sides of the fence already cost the opponents some lives.
