Nineteen foreign naval vessels crossed the maritime border of Ukraine over this year. Anatoliy Petrenko, director of military policy and international cooperation of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry said that at a briefing in Kyiv on Thursday.
‘One submarine and 18 warships entered the waters of the Black Sea. This is the element of our cooperation in the area of security; something that has the impact on the balance of powers in the Black Sea region,’ he said, referring to the current aggression of the Russian Federation, including that in the Black Sea.
Earlier, the U.S. destroyer James E. Williams (DDG95) entered the Black Sea through Bosporus and visited Odesa; at first, however, it failed to moor to the local seaport.
