"We will not draft 18- and 19-year-old men for compulsory military service, except for the cases when they willingly come and join with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The enlistment age, 18 years, has been clearly stated in the law, and it never changed. Actually, the President's decree is signed within the incumbent law", the Minister wrote.
Zahorodniuk claimed that young people from 20 years and older will be the ones who get the draft notifications this April.
Zelensky signed the law on the military draft in 2020, it foresees that the enlistment age makes 18 years. Previously, it was 20.
The military drafts in Ukraine take place twice a year - from April till June and from October till December; young men from 18 to 27 years old will be drafted.
Last year's autumn draft witnessed 15,000 young men join the Ukrainian army as conscripts.
