A criminal case is initiated for the assumption and inappropriate use of funds allocated for the construction of the Children’s Onco-Hematology and Marrow Transplantation Center Okhmatdit. The case is based on the materials of the Security Service of Ukraine, reported by the press-service of the security service.
"A criminal case is initiated for the assumption and inappropriate use of funds. Now the issue of accountability for perpetrators is under consideration. Among them are public officials, heads of the contracting organizations and other persons involved,” reads the announcement of the SBU.
It is also noted that more than two million dollars were illegally used by the contracting organizations in December 2015. The funds were arrested in February 2016 and the State Audit Service of Ukraine officially confirmed the misuse of the funds in August 2016.
Earlier, the state-owned enterprise Ukrmedprojectbud following the tender concluded agreement with the LLC UkrProfMed in January 2014 to construct a modern diagnostic and treatment complex for the Children’s Onco-Hematology and Marrow Transplantation Center Okhmatdit. The transaction value made almost 17 million dollars. It was also reported that the executor was chosen at the noncompetitive procurement procedure “from one participant”, as UkrProfMed was the General Contractor in 2011 – 2012.
Note that Arseniy Yatsenyuk promised to allocate more than 17 million dollars for Okhmatdit construction when the Ukrainian Parliament has intense discussions over the state budget for 2015.
A year after in December of 2015, Iryna Sysoyenko, the MP from Samopomich and the deputy head of the parliamentary health committee, announced that only about 790 thousand dollars out of these 17 million were used.
