11 NATO countries criticized the attitude of Hungary on the issue of the education law of Ukraine and intention to block the rapprochement of Ukraine with NATO as Magyar Nemzet reported.
The edition got the letter where 11 NATO-members expressed the protest against the attitude of Budapest on the integration of Ukraine into the alliance. According to the document, the conflict due to the education law that occurred between Hungary and Ukraine should be considered beyond the NATO and the countries of the alliance do not treat this as the serious problem that will hinder the further rapprochement of Ukraine with NATO.
Moreover, these countries think that the actions of Hungary harm its strategic interests in the region, including the suppression of Russia as the appeared situation plays into hands of Moscow.
As we reported Hungary blocked the session of the "Ukraine - North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)" commission in December. Budapest claimed that it is ready for consultations, but cannot agree with the situation when, according to Szijjártó, the law selects the previously obtained rights of national minorities
As it was reported earlier President Petro Poroshenko signed the law of Ukraine #2145 VII ‘On Education’ on September 25. Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Russia and Moldova expressed the protests towards the law.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Peter Szijjarto claimed that the government of Hungary decided to block all further decisions of the EU that aim for the rapprochement of the EU with Ukraine due to the ‘Law on Education’.
Previously the country said it would cease to support Ukraine on the international arena.
