10 bribetakers detained per day, - Ukraine’s Prosecutor General

More than 2,000 bribetakers have been sentenced over the past two years within the fight against corruption in Ukraine. The Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko reported this, as RBC-Ukraine reports.

According to his words, everyday 10 bribetakers are detained per a day.

“100 bribtakers are detained per month. It has been done a lot since the Maydan. For example, the government procurements help to save us millions of hryvnias. Still, there are, however, immense holes. We have 3,500 state enterprises, the official two thirds of which are not profitable. Why not sell them? ", Lutsenko said.

According to the Prosecutor General, only big privatization is the method of eliminating the large-scale corruption.

Lutsenko also pointed out, that over 22,000 cases of bribery have been sent to the court over the two past years.

“Yesterday, we detained the Deputy of Pechersk Regional State Administration for bribery”, he added.

As we reported earlier, the Prosecutor’s Office would not appeal against the sentence of ex-president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych for state treason.
